چکیده

Chronic inflammatory conditions of the male reproductive tract are thought to be a primary etiological factor in male infertility. The epididymis is considered to be the most common site of intrascrotal inflammation and a significant cause of male fertility disorders rather than the prostate or seminal vesicles. The purpose of the present study was to identify the distribution of DCs of various phenotypes in control and chronically inflamed human epididymis. Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence of double staining were performed at control and inflammatory group. The results showed that (I) normal human epididymis contained only immature intraepithelial LCs, interstitial CD11c, and CD209 DCs whereas CD123pDCs and CD83 mature DCs were virtually absent; (II) the number of both CD11cIL-23 mDCs and CD123IFN-αpDCs were significantly elevated in inflamed epididymis; (III) the mDC populations of CD1a, CD209 immature DCs and CD83mature DCs also increased in inflamed group; (IV) Th17 (CD4IL-17) cells were predominantly distributed under chronic inflammation of human epididymis. Our results indicate that, under inflammatory conditions, the modified actions of different DC subpopulation induce autoimmune response and promote Th17 cells polarization.

AB074. Pregnancy and live birth rates of microsurgical vasoepididymostomy for patients with obstructive azoospermia: analysis in a large sample

Objective: Microsurgical reconstruction is recommended for obstructions in the vas deferens and epididymis. However, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is the preferred therapy and microsurgical vasoepididymostomy (MVE) may be neglected for patients with epididymal obstruction. Fertility outcomes from large sample are absent. In this study we aimed to investigate the pregnancy and live bir...

A modified single-armed technique for microsurgical vasoepididymostomy.

This study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a modified single-armed suture technique for microsurgical vasoepididymostomy (VE) in patients with epididymal obstructive azoospermia. From September 2011 to December 2011, microsurgical two-suture longitudinal intussusception VEs were performed using our modified single-armed suture technique in 17 men with epididymal obstructive azoospermia at o...

Obstructive azoospermia: reconstructive techniques and results

Obstructive azoospermia is a common cause of male infertility and can result from infection, congenital anomalies, or iatrogenic injury. Microsurgical vasal reconstruction is a suitable treatment for many cases of obstructive azoospermia, although some couples will require sperm retrieval paired with in-vitro fertilization. The various causes of obstructive azoospermia and recommended treatment...

Microsurgical Training Curriculum for Neurosurgery Residents in Southern Iran

Training of microvascular anastomosis techniques comprise the major part of surgical skills, necessary for revascularization surgeries. Training can be performed in several stages based on the experience of trainees. This should mainly start with various models of artificial materials that simulate tissues. In the next stage, trainee should practice microsurgical skill on a non-living tissue mo...

Predictive Factors for Natural Pregnancy after Microsurgical Reconstruction in Patients with Primary Epididymal Obstructive Azoospermia

Primary epididymal obstructive azoospermia (OA) is the most prevalent form of OA in nonvasectomized patients and has been less studied. We aim to assess the results with microsurgical vasoepididymostomy used in the treatment of men diagnosed with primary epididymal obstructive azoospermia and to identify the factors associated with natural pregnancy occurring after microsurgical reconstruction....
